It is a question far too many refuse to ask. Instead, the actions of our world often ask the question, "How can I please myself?" God is the supreme being of the universe, and He deserves our service.

Our World is focused on self. We live in a consumer driven environment, which often makes us blind to others. Too often, the world we build for ourselves revolves around ourselves. We must recognize that there are better, more important focuses than self.
Once we remove ourselves from the garment of self-centeredness, then we might be able to better answer the question at hand: "How can I please God?" Our recoginiton that there is someone we should be pleasing, praising, a serving, will help us reevaluate our priorities.
Paul told Timothy that the goal of life was to "please the one who enlisted him" (2 Tim. 2:3-4). Timothy's job was wholly focused on pleasing the author of his salvation. it might have been easy for Timothy to become distracted by the dangers to the church and the problems of the world around him, yet, Paul urges Timothy to reevaulate and refocus.
Moses, a great man of God, was concerned with Israel and their effort in pleasing God. Moses by persuasion of the Spirit, wrote the book of Dueteronomy (second giving of law) to remind the people how they pleased God. In Dueteronomy 5, Moses declares, "So you shall observe to do just as the Lord your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right or to the left. You shall walk in all the way which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you will possess." Moses said that God is pleased by observing, following, and desiring God and His law. I imagine that Ezra had a similar understanding of pleasing God when he sought to "prepare his heart to study the law of the Lord and to do it; to teach His statutes throughout all Israel" (Ezra 7:10).
Dear friends, God has given us His commandments, which is the source of His pleasure. Pleasing God doesnt take a degree or certification to know what one must do; it takes desrie and drive to place oneself within the confines of God's word. This week, in order to please God, immerse yourself in God's word (1 Tim. 4:15), and seek to walk humbly before Him (Micah 6:8).
